Biotechnology is considered by the U.S. Department of Labor to be a high
growth, high demand industry with its foundation in many disciplines, including
biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, genetics,
chemistry, and biomanufacturing technology. The combined biotechnology and
pharmaceutical industry is expected to be one of the 10 fastest growing
industries with a projected growth rate of 70 percent between now and 2012.

Athens Technical College fielded its first coed softball team this past spring.
Though their record wasn't anything to write home about, the team members had a
great time. Plans are now underway to field a team for the fall softball league.
All employees (including adjunct faculty and work-study students) are eligible
to play on the team. Anyone interested in participating in the fall league
should contact Leslie Crickenberger in the Human Resources Office.

registration and new student registration. Students who registered for classes during late registration and drop/add will not receive their HOPE book checks until Wednesday, July 15. Checks will be distributed at the cashier's offices on the Athens and Elbert campuses and at the director's offices on the Greene and Walton campuses.
